isMobile inspires young students for their career choices

isMobile is always interested in talents and new candidates to work for isMobile. We are delighted that so many have started discovering our company and what exciting careers we can offer, especially students from universities. But we and our colleagues in Luleå need even more resources than that, we need much more young people to get attracted by technology and IT. That’s why we have started the isMobile Challenge for Upper Secondary School students.

The isMobile Challenge is about inspiring young people to want to make a career in information technology. The initiative includes a prize to the student (s) who have shown great commitment to their degree project in information technology. In addition, isMobile also holds an appreciated lesson in programming for students in grade 2. Both teachers and students are also invited to a study visit at isMobile in Luleå.

This year it was Peter Jonsson from isMobile who gave a 2 hour lesson in programming for one of the classes in year 2, together with the teacher Tatiana Bäcklund. We met a couple of boys (no girls in class) afterwards to chat about their view forward in life. Most of the boys are gamers in their spare time.

“The labor market really screams for people who have a degree in programming and / or information technology. That's one of the reasons I chose this course” says Albin Jonsson-Sköld.

“My interest in programming has been aroused by my dad working with information technology”, Nils Lundström adds.

The teacher Tatiana Bäcklund and the principal Anna Nilsson stressed the importance of inspiration at an early stage. Peter Jonsson from isMobile spoke warmly about the macro trend Internet of Things (IoT) and the many cool technical possibilities it entails.

During the spring term, the third classes start their thesis work. We at isMobile look forward to handing out the prize within the isMobile Challenge this spring.
