isMobile boosts the Management Team with Axel and Daniel

To continue building the organisation for growth, isMobile has appointed two new members to the management team, Daniel Bergström, Team Manager Product Development, and Axel Öhrn, Team Manager Expert Services. They are both new to the management team but not to our organisation. However, they´ve had quite a different path at isMobile.

Two different isMobile journeys

During the last three years, isMobile has recruited several strategic positions to their management team.

– We work with technology, but we know that it is all about people.  In the last three years, we have strengthened our management team with external competence for the positions of COO, Product Manager and Head of Service Management. All three are important recruitments for our strategic development. At the same time, it has been equally important for us to encourage employees to develop their skills and grow with our company. Therefore, I’m proud to appoint Daniel and Axel to their new positions. They are two individuals representing two different isMobile journeys, says our CEO Mikael Bäckman.

Product Development and Expert Services are closely interconnected, and the base for our customer-driven development. We will look more closely at the cooperation, but first, let’s meet Daniel and Axel to learn more about their time at isMobile.

Daniel Bergström

Team Manager Product Development
Joined isMobile in 2000

Daniel has a master´s degree in computer science, and he actually started his journey at isMobile while writing his master thesis. Since then, Daniel has been working with a lot of different things at isMobile; system development, testing, design, documentation, project management and he has now been appointed to the position of Team Manager Product Development.

In constant change

isMobile has evolved a lot during the years. One of the thrills is that we move fast. You rarely get an assignment that will be released in one year - we talk more about weeks or days or hours. It has been fun and still is, mostly due to great co-workers and customers, but I must also say that I am really into our product isMobile Coordinator. I knew early on that I didn’t want to work as an IT consultant. It has become clear to me that my work passion is to make life easier for our customers by improving our product platform. I’m proud of isMobile Coordinator and that we´ve managed to keep our product dynamic. In short, it means that we can adjust to different systems, industries, or partners without changing the core of our product.

In addition, it is quite cool that we are a local company in the northern part of Sweden that have customers all over the world. We have contact with customers, co-workers, and partners from different parts of the globe every day.

Competence based on experience

I have enjoyed working with all the different areas within system development and design where I have gained a lot of experience and insights. In the new role as Team Manager, I want to share my competence and focus more on bringing out the best of the people I work with.

If you have an idea, put it on the table and let us discuss it together and decide what to do with it. This has been really important to me, and I want to continue to foster a climate where everybody speaks up. Even if we’ve grown as a company, I feel that employees are listened to and have a great possibility to influence their career path at isMobile. In my new role, I also hope to continue having customer contact and nurture my programming skills. I still think that the most exciting work starts after the planning is done. Software development and programming are like making a painting and I don’t seem to get enough of it.

Axel Öhrn

Team Manager Expert Services
Joined isMobile in 2019

Axel has a master’s degree in Industrial and Management Engineering with a focus on Innovation and Strategic Business Development. When he applied for the position of IT Project Manager, Axel himself describes that he didn’t have all the required competence and experience, but he had grit and a growth mindset.

– I possess a keen attitude towards continuously learning new things and I clarified already from the start that I wanted to develop fast and that I was interested in a leadership position in the coming years. My experiences from working as a part-time firefighter for five years as well as from training and coaching soccer had increased my interest in teamwork and leadership. I also had several different jobs parallel to my studies which gave me the insights that I really enjoy working and that it is important for me to continuously acquire new knowledge.

A memorable start

– Directly after I signed with isMobile, Martin our COO asked me; we are going to Italy in a few weeks, do you want to join? I packed my bags and had the privilege to accompany my future colleagues to Rome for a couple of days. In my opinion, the introduction could not have been better. These trips are usually performed once every two years and are great for our teambuilding.

Opportunities for growth

– In October 2019, I started my employment as an IT Project Manager, but I began working as an Application Tester to learn about our product portfolio more hands-on. In January 2020 I was introduced to my first project as an IT project manager and after a year I requested to be introduced as a management trainee to continue my own personal development and my journey to acquire more knowledge. Martin and Mikael approved and while keeping my role as an IT Project Manager, I also got to work with tasks related to business development, such as project management for our ISO certification. My days were mostly spent on customer interactions, internal business development, planning, allocating resources, and on some development and testing. And now in January 2022, I was promoted to Team Manager of Expert Services and hope to evolve my leadership skills and focus on helping our employees with their personal journeys.

– The opportunity to achieve personal growth is one of the best parts of working at isMobile. Every employee has the opportunity to contribute to the company’s and their own development. If you are devoted and for example, ask to work with new work tasks you will probably be able to do so. Also, our offices are full of experts with different backgrounds and competence. I find them extremely supportive and willing to help. I’ve asked my colleagues tonnes of questions and I’ve learned from every question and every new assignment.

Collaboration comes naturally and is a given success factor for the coming years

We sometimes say that teamwork isn’t optional and that cocreation should probably be something you strive for to enjoy working at isMobile.

– Collaboration won’t be an issue. During the lasts two years it feels like Daniel, and I have communicated more or less every workday. We’ve led an exciting customer project together and Daniel has been like a super-competent mentor for me accepting that I did not have full IT competence and instead focusing on the skills I had which resulted in highly efficient teamwork and competence sharing between the two of us, says Axel.

– Axel is one of those people that brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the team. He’s a problem solver and nothing feels impossible when working together. Luckily, we are both curious and want to drive the development forward which is needed in our rapidly changing industry. We’re already thinking of how our two departments further can improve the collaboration and be even more innovative. We’re eager to discuss with our teams how to best share and acquire competence in order to drive the development forward together, Daniel adds.

– IT Product Development is thrilling and we know that a lot will happen in the coming years. We got high ambitions and the future feels bright, Axel concludes.
