This weekend isMobile will participate in the Distribution Utility Meet (DUM 2020). A digital exhibition aiming to leverage prior experiences for a successful nationwide smart grid roll out in India. Johan Ekblom, European Sales Manager, describes why a company with roots in the Swedish arctics is interested in doing businesses in India.
Why India?
India is the world’s third-largest energy producer, with continuously increasing production rates. Driven by high electrification, the energy demand is expected to double in the upcoming decade and triple the electricity consumption by 2030. To keep up with these trends will require a quadrupling of the power grid size of 2040. Moreover, India has embraced this increasing demand by focusing on renewable energy. This is a movement we really would like to be a part of.
It’s all about demand and supply. The demand is extensive, and we got both a proven deployment tool and a pre-defined process that handle the different stages of a smart meter rollout project. Our deployment tool has been used in several large-scale smart meter deployment projects during the last decade and we have used our prior experiences to shape a streamlined process.
