Nordic Meter Replacement achieves swift onboarding with isMobile for Denmark

This is a story of a fast onboarding and a happy customer returning to Coordinator. Nordic Meter Replacement is one of isMobiles SaaS customers, using SMR Go daily to exchange electricity, water, and heat meters in Denmark.

Challenges​

CEO and owner, Jørgen Hansen has previous experience of isMobile products in several rollout projects in cooperation with Kamstrup, read more about the previous Kamstrup rollout here. Impressed by the latest product SMR Go, based on isMobile's Coordinator platform, Jørgen made the strategic decision to use it in future rollout ventures.​

Since the summer of 2023, Nordic Meter Replacement has used the cloud-based SMR Go to manage three rollout contracts with a total of 37,000 meters. The company is solution-oriented and quick to face each new contract with optimism and flexibility. isMobile has found great joy in collaborating with Nordic Meter Replacement!

One of the main challenges for Nordic Meter Replacement was the need for fast onboarding The timeline from winning a contract with the distribution system operators, to the time when meter replacements should start in the field, is very short in these contracts. ​

Further, the number of technicians and the rollout volumes vary in a rather short time frame for companies like Nordic Meter Replacement, creating a need for a flexible solution with an appropriate pricing model. ​Nordic Meter Replacement pay per user, allowing upscale and downscale without high overhead costs.

Solution​

isMobile provided Nordic meter replacement with the SMR Go solution, an off-the-shelf solution for smart meter rollout. This solution is based on Coordinator platform and contains standard processes for meter exchanges and inspections. isMobile has collected years of experience in one package for smart meter rollouts, designed for smaller projects where fast implementation is the key. Key features​

Features included in the SaaS from day one are all part of the isMobile standard SMR Go solution.

  • Central planning tool, Planner, with map support and route optimization engine.

  • Mobile app for real-time reporting and offline support including map and calendar view.

  • Multiple teams with separate work hours, booking times and announcement set-up.

  • Insight statistics module with standard dashboards.

  • Import from file.

  • Export to file customized to each contract.

  • Email customer announcements using the customer email server.

  • Announcement letter tailored to each contract.

  • Inspection creation from completed work order including details on meter exchange.

Added functionality

After a few months and thousands of meter exchanges, Nordic Meter Exchange requested some additional features, mostly to accommodate a third contract won during the fall of 2023. Additional functionality tailored to customer needs include:

  • Tailored meter exchange reports to include contract-specific additional services.

  • Mobile application design to show a customer-specific set of data.

  • Automated file export to a file server from which customer/DSO can collect data.

Results​

After working in SMR Go for months, Nordic Meter Replacement and isMobile have together accomplished great results and Nordic Meter Replacement have full control of the progress of the projects.

Three-week onboarding

To meet the need for fast implementation and onboarding, isMobile introduced Nordic Meter Replacement to the new work order management SaaS within three weeks of signing with isMobile. This was possible due to the standardized solution SMR Go. In this case, some adjustments were made after the initial initiation, to manage unforeseen needs. But all in all, a fast implementation to the appreciation of the customer.

  • The contract was signed at the end of June 2023.

  • Work orders were created beginning of July.

  • The customer starts working in the system mid of July, within three weeks from the contract.

  • The first installation in the field was on August 7th, 2023.

Commitment and future collaboration with isMobile

Once the first two contracts were up and running, it was easy to add teams and contracts in the Coordinator platform, allowing Nordic Meter Replacement to grow with their commitments within the same environment and without any disruptions to the ongoing rollouts. Thanks to the team structure and the possibility of different processes and configurations between teams, three contracts effortlessly run in parallel.

Nordic Meter Replacement looks forward to further collaboration with isMobile, anticipating the addition of more teams, contracts, and features as the company continues to evolve within the Danish infrastructure landscape.

Nordic Meter Replacement has, since its establishment in 2014, exchanged over 900,000 meters across Denmark. Nordic Meter Replacement has wide experience in electricity- and battery services as well as water and district heating metering.
