Inside the grid with Luleå tech students

Working close to high schools and universities is important to us. The students contribute to our business and we gain lots of knowledge and energy from them. Hopefully, it gives students opportunity to develop themselves and practice their theoretical knowledge as well as get a glimpse of us as an employer.  This summer Märta and Alexander, Industrial and Management Engineering students at Luleå University of Technology, performed a customer and market analysis of the smart meter rollout in India. Take part of their isMobile experience, success factors and tips to fellow students.

This past summer, 23-year-old Märta Ransjö Zander and Alexander Stenman Industrial and Management Engineering students at Luleå University of Technology worked at IsMobile with a customer and market analysis of the smart meter rollout in India

Why isMobile?

Märta:

– I had no previous experience of IsMobile, but they gave such a good impression when we met. The open atmosphere, the possibility to try something new, the great summer initiatives to students in longer time periods.

Alexander:

– What attracted me the most was the openness and integrity, and I really got the feeling that they wanted to invest their time and commitment in students. An interesting actor who contributes a lot within the ecosystem.

Feedback most important to succeed

Märta and Alexander performed a customer and market analysis of the smart meter rollout in India, a project with lots of interaction with the colleagues at IsMobile. The techs students both agree that one of the most useful things to learn was to navigate in such a large and new market and to sort out requested information. What was crucial was the feedback from IsMobile staff, and they believe this is an advantage you can get with smaller companies.

Three tips to fellow students

1. Find a place, a company where you contribute to something tangible, where you can make a difference.

2. Make sure they will give you time and effort, that they have a genuine interest in working with you

3. Learn more about the company´s mission and activities, why they exist and what good they do. To us, we appreciate that IsMobile is an important factor in the eco system of software and system development.
